Large companies usually have the luxury of making their political opinions known. Recently we’ve seen Apple, Google, Facebook and Amazon all come out against DACA, and weigh in on several other political issues like environmental concerns and net neutrality. For small business owners speaking out on their personal beliefs could be detrimental to their business.
Forbes wrote an article with some questions to ask yourself if you are thinking that it could be your responsibility to speak out on certain issues.
1. How does your personal opinion align with your customer’s opinion?
2. Would speaking out enhance your image in the community?
3. Are your personal opinions in alignment with your company’s values?
