Get to know Persnickety Prints

Business Owner: Chari Pack
Business: Persnickety Prints
Location: Orem, Utah

Meet Chari Pack
Chari is very passionate about what she does. Everything about the printing process intrigues her, and the joy she gets from helping her customers keeps her going on a daily basis.

“There’s no such thing as getting rich quick. A lot of people give up after 6 months or a year, but it really takes a good 3 or 4 years before things can run on auto. Diligence, determination and perseverance through the bumps in the road are so important. You just have to get through them and not quit.”

How Persnickety Got Started
“It wasn’t intentional to start persnickety prints, it just sort of built upon itself seeing the need and market.” Said Chari. In 2009 Chari started to see a decline in the quality of printing being done, so she started testing all sorts of different printing labs. “As I was testing labs I realized the print process could be a lot better if it was done right.” Said Chari, she explained that a lot of people were sacrificing quality to save money. Though that works for some people, it wasn’t what Chari wanted, so what did she do? She started Persnickety Prints.

The Printing Process
Something unique to Persnickety Prints is their archival printing process. They use Silver Halide and darkroom processing for most of their prints, because as Chari says, “If we are printing photos, we want them to last. Memories are important. Pictures are important.”

Persnickety’s Biggest Win
For Persnickety Prints the biggest win is overcoming every day challenges. Chari’s goal with the business is to help her employees feel joy at the end of the day, and not feel like they are clocking in and out of a job. Creating a great team is very important for Chari. As well, Chari Said, “Growth is hard, but we have done pretty well with the stresses. I think my biggest win is being able to set goals, and then being able to attain them.”

Entrepreneurial Advice
Chari’s last words and advice to future business owners would be simply, don’t give up! “There’s no such thing as get rich quick.
